Morris Trophy Finalist 2017

The Morris Trophy...

...Is competed for annually to find the top large squadron in the United Kingdom. The Lees Trophy is, correspondingly, awarded to the top smaller-size squadron.

2433 (Ramsgate and Manston) Squadron were honoured to be selected as one of the top three larger squadrons and were, on Wednesday 19th July 2017, inspected by Air Commodore D A McCafferty CBE, Commandant Air Cadets.

Cmdt AC was greeted by a Guard of Honour and after meeting some visitors and supporters, was given an audio-visual presentation of the Sqns activities over the previous year.

The Cmdt then moved to see the Sqn Band in action. This was followed by cadets and staff showing off their skills at archery, adventure training and Duke of Edinburgh's Award expeditions and radio communications.

The Air Cdre was then taken to our newly commissioned part task trainer (flight simulator) where she saw the various stages of training in action as well as flying herself.

The final activity seen was a visit to the Defence Fire Training & Development Centre to observe cadets undergoing fire training with an RAF Fire Service instructor.

Returning to the Sqn HQ Cmdt AC saw some video messages from cadets undergoing the Nijmegen March in Holland and our sister Sqn in Australia. She was also presented with a cake with the insignia of a CBE in icing.

Overall it was a great evening and all cadets, staff, committee and supporters were in great form and Comdt AC paid some amazing compliments to the whole team.

Unfortunately, 2433 Sqn were not successful in winning the trophy for 2017 but are proud to have achieved such a great level of success by being selected as one of the top three Sqns in the UK, out of some 960 plus.

A huge well done to all involved for their amazing achievements.
