Honorary Sister Squadron

302 Squadron, Australian Air Force Cadets

To mark the 75th Anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps, 2433 (Ramsgate and Manston) Squadron decided to spread their wings and reach out to Air Cadets around the world.

After having researched Air Cadet units in various countries, it was found that a unit of the Australian Air Force Cadets served the City of Rockdale which has suburbs of Ramsgate and Ramsgate Beach near Sydney New South Wales.  It also bordered the beautiful Botany Bay, which also has a namesake on the Isle of Thanet.

302 Squadron meet weekly at the Rockdale Multi-User Depot.  The Australian Air Force Cadets are also celebrating their 75th Anniversary during 2016.

OC 2433 Squadron approached OC 302 Squadron to see if the Sqn would be receptive to forging a connection between the two units.  We were pleased to receive a very positive response and began the planning for the affiliation.

Working groups were set up on both sides of the world(!) and a number of cadets and staff from each Sqn began to exchange photos and information.

Were pleased to finally conclude our affiliation in October 2016 and are proud to have officially become Honorary Sister Squadrons.

Both Sqns look forward to building connections and exchanging cadet experiences.
