What We Do

The range of opportunities available to cadets is wide and varied.  From pure aviation training through to powered flying, from initial expedition training to the Nijmegan March, from basic campcraft to military field training and from basic foot drill to full ceremonial parades.  These are only a few of the activities you can take part in.

Activities

Here are just a few of the activities you can get involved in.  If you want to know more about anything we do, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Flying

Once you have graduated from basic training you will be able to go powered flying.  2433 Squadron flies at No. 6 Air Experience Flight at RAF Benson in Oxfordshire.  All of the pilots are fully qualified RAF pilots with many hours experience flying in the regular RAF and for Air Cadets.  Tutor aircraft are fully aerobatic so don't forget to ask your pilot about it's full capabilities!

Squadron Band

2433 Squadron has a successful and thriving marching band.  Meeting on a Monday evening, they are always in demand for events both local and farther afield.  They are currently Kent Wing Champions and have also been judged the best in London & the South East.  If you join you may well find yourself a local carnival or the Lord Mayor of London's Annual Show.

Vocational Qualifications

The Air Cadets offer a number of vocational type qualifications.  The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, for example, will challenge your skills, volunteering and expedition planning and may even mean you visit a Royal Palace to collect your Gold Award.  It's up to you how far you go.

Military Field Training

Many cadets are interested in the more military aspects of the RAF, including military field training.  This includes camouflage & concealment, movement and cooking in the field.  Leadership is also a big part of this type of training.

2433 Squadron has a project you can join to learn and develop these skills and to pass them onto other cadets.  The Squadron will also run night exercises in which the whole unit gets involved.

Aerospace

2433 Squadron is currently buiilding a new aerospace trainer.  This will be a full-size aircraft cockpit with panoramic projection and up-to-date flight simulator software.  Our new training programme will take you from first introduction the aircraft and controls to first solo circuit.  Join us to get involved in this exciting new project.
