Join Us

Aged between and 16?  Then you can join as a cadet.  Aged 20 or over?  Then we are recruiting adult volunteers:

Cadet

You can now join if you are aged 12 and in year 8.  After an initial interview with a member of staff you will join our basic training unit - Tutor Flight - named after the RAF aircraft in which you will fly.  You will undergo training about the RAF Air Cadets and the parent service, the Royal Air Force, as well as learning about the rank structure, discipline, uniform wear and upkeep, airfields, navigation and a number of other subjects including saluting and basic foot drill.  Once you graduate from Tutor Flight you will be posted to either Hercules or Puma Flight where a whole range of opportunities will open up to you as a First Class Cadet.

 

Requirements

- Be at least 12 years of age and in year 8 at school

- Have parental permission to join

 

Adult Volunteer

As an adult volunteer there are various roles in which you can join depending on how much time you have to commit.  These include:

 

Uniformed:

- Commissoned Officer

- Adult Senior Non-Commissioned Officer

 

Civilian:

- Civilian Instructor

- Civilian Committee Member

- Chaplain

 

All roles require a level of time and commitment but offer the reward of working with enthusiastic and hard-working members of staff and cadets.  Please feel free to contact us to discuss any of these roles.  We would be happy to hear from you.

 

Requirements
 

- Be at least 20 years of age

- Undergo BASIC and DBS background clearance checks

 

For adult volunteers joining in a uniformed role:

 

- Pass an interview and selection and board appropriate to the role

- Attend and pass a week-long initial course at HQ Air Cadets

- Pass a probationary period appropriate to your role
