...Proved to be a great success for 2433 Squadron. As part of the 50th Anniversary celebrations and commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the Squadron went 'on tour' to Dorset. Swanage Steam Railway to be precise.

So why trek to Dorset? Well the Swanage Steam Railway is the home of the Battle of Britain Class steam locomotive 'Manston', named after the famous Battle of Britain fighter station on which 2433 Squadron is based and indeed, named after.

Travelling down for the weekend, the Squadron Band were scheduled in to play on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June. Also performing were the Mellor Sisters, with their repertoire of 1940's songs.

The Sqn were particularly pleased to watch a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Hurricane flypast, which stood in for the Dakota which was unavailable.

The Band has some greatly appreciative audiencesand also had the chance to travel the length of the line by train on both days.

2433 Squadron would like to thank the Swanage Steam Railway, especially David Rawsthorn and his team for their welcome and unfailing hospitaility...
