Sir Winston Churchill at RAF Manston

...Today, 24th January, marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Sir Winston Churchill.

RAF Manston played a pivotal role in the Battle of Britain and other engagements during World War 2 and Churchill was known to have visited RAF Manston including the Intelligence Building which is now our training centre and band headquarters.

The photo shows Sir Winston and Lady Churchill visiting No. 615 Squadron at RAF Manston during WW2. Churchill is dressed in uniform as the Squadrons Honorary Air Commodore.
